Programme

Jesus Film Ministry

To share the Gospel visually through the Jesus Film in communities and prisons.

At a glance

The work at a glance.

The JESUS film shows the life, death and resurrection of Jesus in people’s own language — no reading required. Our teams take it to villages and prisons, often projecting onto a screen under the night sky.

After every showing we pray with those who respond and gather them into Bible study groups that grow into new churches.

What this includes

  • Open-air screenings in villages — for many, the first film they have ever seen.
  • The life of Jesus in local languages, no reading required.
  • Counselling and prayer straight after every screening.
  • Follow-up Bible groups that grow into new churches.

Fruit so far
Over 20,000 people have watched; many have received Christ; new churches planted after screenings.

Why it matters

Many can’t read the gospel — but they can watch it.

In rural Zambia many adults never had the chance to learn to read, and Bibles in local languages are scarce. A film in their own language opens the story of Jesus to everyone — grandparents, children and people who have never set foot in a church.

Worldwide, the JESUS film is now available in more than 2,200 languages, and every new language opens another door.

Questions

Common questions about the JESUS film.

What is the JESUS film?

A 1979 feature film based on the Gospel of Luke. It has been translated into more than 2,200 languages — the most translated film in history — and is used by churches worldwide to share the gospel.

Why use a film?

Many people in the villages we serve cannot read. Seeing Jesus heal, forgive, die and rise again — in their own language — helps them understand the gospel clearly.

Where do screenings happen?

In open village spaces at night, in schools and churches, and inside correctional facilities, by arrangement with local leaders and prison authorities.

What happens after a screening?

Our team prays with people who respond, then gathers them into Bible study groups within days. Many of these groups have become new churches.

What does a screening cost?

Fuel, transport, a generator, sound equipment and follow-up materials. A single outreach can reach hundreds of people in one night.
